First Loves

Holidays & Occasions

First loves are something I think we all share universally. Even if it didn’t go the way you wanted it, you fell in love at least once right? I can remember crushes from first grade to high school and beyond. And if they didn’t end in heartache were they even worth it?!!

Valentine's Day can conjure up feelings of like, love or lust, pain and heartache, a sense of belonging, a sense of longing. Maybe it differs from year to year, or even day to day. A few things I have learned in my 18 years of owning a flower shop is to be relatable, a good listener, and a compassionate designer.

Flowers can say I love you or I'm sorry but they also can do many things for the self. Sure they may get you out of the doghouse or a million make-up kisses but if you think of it in a different way, flowers heal.

Memories of a loved one, a lost love, a family member, a pet : feelings can come rushing back at the sight, fragrance or touch of a flower.

Perhaps you bought tulips every Spring with your family

Perhaps you were enamored by a crush who filled the air with the scent of lilacs as they walked by you

Perhaps you dug your hands into the rich earth of your Grandmother's garden after she passed. The scent of soil and David Austin roses alive in your memory forever

This Valentine's Day savor your loves; be them lost or full of life. Visit our little shop in Fremont and possibly find that renewed flower-filled memory you didn't know was inside you. xoxo
